Being from Texas, I have been asked before if I ride a horse to school. While I can safely say this has never happened (it totally has), it’s obvious that there are plenty of myths surrounding the life of a modern-day cowgirl from the lone-star state. But living in a big city means boots are a fashion statement, not a lifestyle, and that even though I don’t have a southern twang, I still say “ya’ll”.

Where I’m from is an important part of who I am. And it will inevitably shape my abroad experience. I hope I can represent my state and my country well, and expose my new friends ‘across the pond’ to American cultural gems (Jersey Shore) and intellectual greats (Sarah Palin). And I’m sure they will do the same! (Shakespeare, John Locke).

In a nutshell? I like pastel colors and white. I don’t like math because numbers make me nauseous. I am rarely on time to anything. There is very little I would do for a Klondike bar, they just aren’t my thing. Most of my daydreams involve owning and decorating a house with my dream dog (he’s out there, somewhere). Procrastination is my greatest talent and I use it whenever I can. If you can make me laugh, we will probably be friends. My family is the thing I love most about myself. And everything I have is by the grace of God.

So wish me well.

“The answers that you’re looking for are closer than you think. They’re in your heart and in the hearts of those who love you. And that is right here – at home. Now, in you’re life you’re going to go to some great places and you’re going to do some wonderful things. But no matter where you go, or who you become, this place will always be with you.”
